The truth my soul refused to let me ignore

Woman smiling with glasses in a rural setting, lush green grass, and mountains under a bright sky. Wires and a building in the background.

We often seek connection outside ourselves, but what if the deepest connection we long for is the one with our own soul?

This is what came through when I finally listened.

I stood in front of the mirror, searching for her in my own reflection.

I had to be honest with her.

I told her I needed deeper connections. I crave them.

She held my gaze.

"The depth of your connections with others will only go as deep as your connection with me."

My fingers traced the edge of the sink, grounding myself.

But I do have a strong connection with you, don’t I?

We’ve been on our own for longer than we ever wanted.

What more do you want from me?

"Your presence.

You’re not truly here when we’re together. Always searching for a distraction, anything to avoid the truth I have to say.

I know I tell you things you don’t want to hear, but I’m not here to comfort you—I’m here to illuminate the darkest parts of your mind."

My own eyes stared back at me, unblinking.

"So for once, I’m asking you: sit with me. In silence. Because words aren’t always enough.

Sit with me without distraction. No phone. No music. No thoughts pulling you away.

Open yourself to the possibility that I have something to offer. That wisdom is waiting, buried deep within. That I hold insights and perspectives you never imagined possible.

I won’t tell you what you crave to hear. I will tell you what you need to hear."

What would your soul say if you truly sat with it? If you gave it your full presence—no distractions, no noise, just listening? Maybe it’s time to find out.
